In the following article, Ashley unveils the art of decoding what the emojis from your crush means!
Your phone vibrates and your heart skips a beat. Is it him? Did he text me? What does he want? Did he think that last thing I said was awkward? Does he really think three hours between texts is ok? Like, get [it] together. Ugh, I hope it’s him. Are all thoughts running through your head as you grab your phone and your screen lights up. An EMOJI? What the heck?! The salsa lady? What does that even mean? Sometimes, texting is more about context than it is about the actual text. Whether it’s word vomit or the dancer emoji, our over-analyzing selves (admit, you do it), need to know the who, what, when, where and why of every text received. Let’s feed into our crazy and decode these cute but confusing emoji texts.
EMOJI + NO TEXT = EMOTION?
Unless you’re texting your crush, do we ever really put any thought into our texts? The texts we receive though…whole different story. Especially when that text is a lonely little emoji.
KEEPING IT CASUAL
When he sends text with simple emojis like salsa dancers, stars, the thumbs up, thumbs down, food and anything that doesn’t really convey an emotion, he probably wants to keep things casual, especially when he doesn’t use words. Maybe he wants to be just friends. Maybe less. Maybe time for you to not text him anymore. Girl, it’s time to let him go (really), just drop him. (Maybe he doesn’t know how to spell?)
FACE EMOJIS ARE A GAME CHANGER
When you start receiving smiley emojis, things are going good. Whenever he uses emojis that have hearts in them, or is being playful with the smiley faces that stick their tongues out, it’s time to ramp up your text game. Ok, maybe he just LOVES emojis. When he starts sending complete sentences in just emojis, it’s time to really decode. Say you asked him out to lunch and he responds with:
Instead of wasting the precious time you could be using to watch YouTube, just look at the emojis that matter. The burger, knife and fork and cake are a pretty good sign that he wants food. The water before it could mean he’s starving for some meat? Either way, it’s probably a good sign. Now be your assertive self and make sure that’s what he means by making your crush’s plans for him by telling him when and where you’ll meet him! If he still responds with an emoji, let’s just hope it's a thumbs up.
DON'T BE CONFUSED
Just pick apart the emojis that relate to your text and go from there. Most importantly, don’t be afraid to tell him what’s up! If that string of texts makes ZERO sense, ask him straight up what he meant! If he can’t tell you, then girlfriend, no one can, and NEXT!
You’re ready to conquer the emoji world. You know you’re everything and more that your crush could dream of, so let’s get in the game and make sense of his emojis. If you can figure out what this means, you’re well on your way into your crush’s heart, or wherever else you want to be.
Figured it out? See if you’re right on my blog!
