Austin Mahone has a big voice that belts out hits like "Say You're Just a Friend" and "What About Love," but he has an even bigger heart. Austin says not only does he love making his fans smile, but he especially enjoys giving back. That's why when Ryan Seacrest asked Austin to perform at the opening of his new Seacrest Studios at Levine Children's Hospital in North Carolina, Austin couldn't refuse.
"I love visiting children's hospitals and being able to perform for the kids," Austin tells M. "It's an honor."
The best part about these kinds of performances for Austin is that they don't just change his Mahomies lives, they change his too. After losing his grandmother to cancer only a year ago, the children battling cancer and other illnesses that Austin met really make an impact on him.
"It's definitely sad, but it's really them that help me stay strong because when I see them, they're laughing and having a good time," Austin says. "I just want to put a smile on their faces as a distraction from what they might be going through."
Austin might have made his fans happy and provided a distraction, but he still believes that it's him who benefits the most from the visit. "They don't let [their struggles] get to them," Austin explains M. "I was blessed to meet them."
