In a recent interview, Beau spoke out about filming his last handful of episodes as Matty McKibben, the allstar athlete, all-around-perfect, on-and-off-again ex-boyfriend of Jenna Hamilton (played by Ashley Rickards).
"As the seasons have progressed, I feel like we've been on the same part more so," he said of his character, Matty. "Maybe that's just because Matty's maturing, you know, maturing alongside me. Or I'm getting less mature and Matty's getting more mature. So we're meeting on common ground."
As for the season that sticks out in Beau's mind the most?
"It was really smart," he said of the first season. "You hadn't seen anything quite like it in the genre for quite some time."
He continued, "It was different and it kinda shook things up a little bit. And it was fun to originate a character. I had never originated a character on television or anything."
Now, after five seasons of break-ups, make-ups, and college applications, acceptance and rejection letters, it's all finally coming to an end.
"[The final season] maintains its tone," Beau revealed. "Obviously things change. There's new storylines. It's great to deal with new themes. It's the end of high school as you know it, the finish line is right there. It's exciting, it's trepadatious, it's nerve-racking, it's all of the above."
