Brandon and Savannah are a musical brother/sister duo, famous for touring alongside bands like R5, who lent their voices to the characters Mozzarella and Provolone in the film. We chatted with Brandon and Savannah and English version writer/director Mychal Simka all about their roles and what it was like working with Miranda and Drake.
CHECK OUT OUR INTERVIEW BELOW:
“A Mouse Tale is a family film," Mychal Simka tells M. "Drake, who plays Sebastian, wants to be a wizard but he doesn’t have confidence in himself. Some fortuitous events happen and he’s seen by the entire kingdom of mice as The Chosen One to go out on this adventure to get the magic crystal to basically save the kingdom of mice who are being invaded by rats!"
So we just had to know, since the two leads worked together on Drake and Josh, are there any nods to the show hidden in the film?
"Our characters were getting ready to fight and we were kind of nervous about it, and we said a line from Drake and Josh, which was, 'Hug me, brother!' That was a show we watched all the time," Savannah reveals to M.
"It was really cool getting to play a character like that and providing the comic relief," Brandon admits to M. "It was very funny and energetic. It was a blast getting to do that, getting to create the character in the studio."
But wait... Are there any more secret gems hidden in the movie? Mychael reveals all below:
"I’ve had pretty much every actor that’s ever worked for Dan Schneider in my movies, just because I’m such a huge fan. There’s actually one more line, if you want to put a spoiler out there. There’s a nod to The Amanda Show. All the characters say, 'I like this and I like that,' and then [one character] stands up and says, 'I like eggs,' which is a pretty famous line from from the skit 'Girl Talk.'"
