Deadline is reporting that Corey has officially signed on to star in the film, #Squadgoals. According to the official description, the story focuses on a girl named Samantha, a teenage journalist who uses her investigative reporting skills to uncover the truth about the murder of two of her classmates. Corey will be playing Nate, a photographer who has a secret crush on Samantha, whose life gets even more complicated when he helps her solve this case and discovers he too is in danger. OH THE DRAMA.
Corey is best known for playing Farkle on GMW and although Corey and Farkle are super different IRL, it seems like Nate is a character who might have more in common with Corey, since he too is a photographer. And it looks like filming is already underway, since Corey took to Twitter to share a photo of himself on-set. He tweeted the pic out, along with "Day 3," referring to the fact that he's on his third day of filming.
Since the Disney Channel series has been canceled, Corey has starred in The Blank Theatre's production of the off-Broadway show, Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead and he's not the only one of his former castmates who is making moves.
Rowan Blanchard is gearing up to guest-star on the ABC sitcom The Goldbergs and she's starring in two upcoming movies – the 2017 adventure film A World Away and the 2018 live-action version of the classic book A Wrinkle In Time. Sabrina Carpenter has been busy too, you know just being a fabulous pop star. There is still a chance the beloved series could possible be picked by another network or a streaming service like Hulu since Netflix is said to have already passed, which is something the creator of the show Michael Jacobs is still holding out hope for. Even if the series doesn't get a second life, the cast is keeping busy and moving on to some amazing new projects, so they're obviously not going anywhere anytime soon.
