Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas have been friends for years, and they really turn to each other when they're in need of some major life advice. In a recent interview, the duo, who is currently on tour together, opened up about their friendship and how it was able to blossom over the years to the sister/brother vibe they have now. And it all really began during the Camp Rock era.
"Well, for a couple of years there was the Joe and Demi romantic thing, so I'd be this emotional bridge for them. But she and I were productive — we'd write songs about it. We became even closer because it was never going to be [romantic]," Nick explained.
Nick's brother Joe Jonas couldn't agree more and when he was asked to comment on the pair, he admitted that Nick and Demi are really like family after all these years working together. And he really is beyond happy to see how far they've come together.
"You'd think they're siblings, sometimes more than Nick and I," Joe admitted. "I'm so proud of him. I'll be honest, I was a bit envious when I saw him catapult into this personal success. And today she's the best version of herself I've ever known."
You can totally feel the love coming from these three! In case you were wondering, when Nick broke up with his ex, Olivia Culpo, Demi was one of the first people he called, since part of Nick and Demi's friendship is based on pure honesty.
"I internalize things, so we have this rule that we never want to hear about it in a tweet or something," Nick said. "She'd read me the riot act, so she's the third person I call — my dad, Joe, then Demi. She was like, 'Just go, create and be free.' She also said some other things."
And Demi made it clear that she gave her bestie some much-needed advice, since she wasn't really a fan of that specific relationship Nick was in.
"I go, 'Honestly, I didn't like her anyway,'" Demi explained with a laugh. "It's not because she's mean or anything, but he has such a great sense of humor and I want him to be with someone that makes him laugh. I can tell if something's up because he'll close off."
So it looks like she was just having Nick's back, which is what a best friend does!
