Demi Lovato is always known for speaking out when it comes to what she believes in and she rarely ever holds back. This time around though, she shared her candid thoughts on Taylor Swift and the concept of a squad and frankly, Demi just doesn't think what Taylor is doing is helping out when it comes to female empowerment.
"I think every woman does her part in some way. But I think in certain situations, certain people could be doing more if they’re going to claim that as part of their brand," Demi said in a new interview. "To be honest, and this will probably get me in trouble, I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like. And what they should be like, and it’s not real. It’s not realistic. And I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry down, that’s not women’s empowerment. We all do things that aren’t, but I have to ask myself, 'Am I content with calling myself a feminist?' Yes, because I speak out."
Woah, the "Confident" singer really seems like she just had to get that off her chest, but she hasn't really received positive feedback from these statements, since she directly called out T Swift. She took to Twitter to attempt to clear the air.
Also don't forget that words can be taken out of context when doing interviews.. still not apologizing for saying what everyone want to say— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) October 4, 2016

Demi is forever and always unapologetically herself and nothing is going to change that. But it looks like she just doesn't want to deal with the drama anymore, since she later said she's going to take a break from the public eye next year.
So excited for 2017. Taking a break from music and the spotlight.. I am not meant for this business and the media 👋🏼— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) October 4, 2016

And it looks like she might not have plans to ever return, instead wanting to focus on charity work.
@jblover12223 dunno. It doesn't feel worth it anymore. I'd rather do charity work tbh— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) October 4, 2016

It's great that Demi wants to spend her time doing something nice for others, but let's hope she does eventually come back to music, at least for the sake of her fans.
