DIY-ing your own One Direction outfit isn't just for a concert night anymore. Three years ago today, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson united as the boy band One Direction on The X-Factor UK. In honor of 1D's third anniversary, live while you're young, and light up your world with your own DIY-ed, personalized pair of shorts!

1D Shorts Supplies

What You'll Need:
* Light-wash jean shorts
* Pencil
* Fabric markers or paint
* Black Sharpie
* Glitter in blue, red, green, white, and orange
* Fabric glue

Step 1: First plan out your designs (1D lyrics, drawings of microphones or stars, etc.) on your shorts using a pencil, just in case you make a mistake or want to switch things around.

Step 2: Go over the pencil using whatever mediums you would like: glitter, sharpie, and fabric markers or paint. The more decorative and creative the better! You want to stand out and go crazy, crazy, crazy 'til you see the sun!

Step 3: This step is completely optional, but as you can see from the picture below, we decorated the two back pockets as the British and Irish flag in honor of the boys' heritages. For the British flag, you want to use the fabric glue to draw four intersecting lines (like a four-point star), then shake red glitter over it. In between the spaces, put down the glue, then shake blue glitter over those sections.
