If it wasn't for Simon Cowell, the world simply wouldn't have One Direction. The music executive was the driving force behind putting Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik together in a band when they all auditioned as solo artists for the X Factor. The guys each were cut from the competition in the solo department, but something told Simon that together, these five voices would work and well, the rest is history. When we here at M had the chance to hop on a conference call with Simon and other publications to chat about his new gig as one of the judges on America's Got Talent, he said that what he admires most about the 1D guys is their loyalty. Since Louis just served as a guest-judge on the show, Simon wouldn't rule out any of the other members from making an appearance on AGT, but he only mentioned three of the band's remaining members. YIKES.
"You know what, we're talking to all of [the 1D guys] at the moment. You know what the great thing about these boys are, well not all of them, just most of them, they're incredibly loyal. And you don't always expect that. Niall, Harry, Louis are amazing," Simon said.
Noticeably absent from this list of names is Liam, who just last week announced he singed a solo recording deal. Perhaps Simon is feeling a little hurt about it, since Liam signed with Capitol Records, which means he's no longer on Simon's SYCO record label. He did go on to gush about Tommo's time as a judge though.
"Louis is great! It was so funny, and so kind of odd, because he had auditioned for me five years ago, and now he's sitting where I'm sitting, judging other people and doing it really well. I was really happy for him, he loved doing it," Simon said.
Hopefully there isn't too much bad blood between Simon and Liam. They're part of the same, life-changing team after all, and Simon really does care about each of the guys and what they're up to next in life.
