Rucas. Lucaya. The decision that has the potential to shift the dynamic of Girl Meet World. The triangle that has been brewing between Riley, Lucas and Maya for two years now has finally come to an end.
Let us give you a bit of a backstory: See, a few episodes ago, we learned that this triangle really wasn't what everyone thought. Maya was having a bit of an identity crisis, acting like Riley and when this was realized, she wasn't sure if her feelings for Lucas were real or not. Now that Maya is back to her true self and the crew found themselves on a trip at the Mount Sun Lodge, it was time for the trio to make a choice.
SPOILER ALERT if you haven't seen Girl Meets Ski Lodge Part 2 yet: In the end, Maya has a heart to heart with Josh and realizes she doesn't want to date Lucas, since she only liked him in the first place as a way of trying to protect Riley and make sure the first guy her best friend has feelings for is good enough for her BFF. Maya and Lucas mutually decide they're better off just staying friends.
Lucas then chooses Riley, who he always knew was the one for him, and she chooses him right back.
Was this not the most precious scene?
Who knew a jellybean could mean so much? As if that's not enough to freak out over, we are also left with hope in the future for Maya and Josh to possibly become more than friends.
THIS IS A LOT TO PROCESS. Also, take a moment to reflect on how in the series finale of Boy Meets World, Cory told a three-year-old Josh that one day he might meet a girl who changes his life, just like Topanga changed Cory's. And well, maybe that girl is Maya Hart after all. Just soak in that look on Josh's face when Maya calls him out for letting her hold his hand.
Taking a trip to this lodge really was a game-changer, and Cory did warn Riley, Maya and the whole crew that their lives would be different once they headed back home to the city. But one thing that will remain a constant is Riley and Maya. Although Rucas is now official, the girls promised each other their friendship will never falter. They're Thunder and Lightning after all, so they kind of always need to be together.
And this is why their friendship will forever be one of TV's best.
