The official One Direction hiatus has been a bit of weird time for fans. The boys are no longer hanging out together all the time making music and touring as a band, but instead, we're currently in the midst of solo Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and yes even Zayn Malik, so it's tons of tunes from five very different singers who are all living separate lives. The core four remaining members still often find themselves talking to and hanging out together and even though they've each been on their own path, there's one thing they all have concluded: 1D is forever and they are always supportive of one another, no matter what. Need proof? Well, we rounded up a ton of times the guys have had each other's back since the hiatus began and in the process, ended up answering tons of your burning questions. Enjoy:
Short answer: absolutely. In Niall's interview with Billboard, he said that no matter where his solo career is if his bandmates want to reunite, he will be there.
"I told my managers from the start: When One Direction comes knocking, [forget]what I’m doing. I don’t give a [crap] if I sold out arenas or won Grammys. I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for that," he said.
And Liam feels the same way, saying that he, Harry, Louis and Niall are literally the most loyal bunch of superheros.
"We will get back together at a certain point. I think we need to come back as a whole. It's like the Avengers, you shout and we all come running, that’s what happens," Liam said.
Louis went through one of the most difficult life tragedies a person ever has to deal with: the loss of his mom, Johannah. And who rushed to be by his side when he had to take the stage a mere few days later? His 1D brothers.
"We literally all flew the world over to get to that gig and Louis walked in and there was a really nice moment when we all kind of had a little huddle and it for me it was the first time in the five or six years we’ve been together now where we were actually fully best mates," Liam explained. "We weren’t even a band that night that’s the first night we were fully like top top top lads. And yeah it was obviously the most sad occasion, it was bittersweet in a sense because it felt so lovely for us all to be there and yes, we are fully in this for the long run but at the same time, what a tragic, tragic, tragic loss."
So yes, it's safe to say they really are friends, no matter what.
Each member of the band is doing is own thing musically right now, but that doesn't mean they're not jamming out to each other's tunes. When Harry dropped his first single, "Sign of the Times," Niall and Liam took to Twitter to let him know they were nothing but proud, and that's exactly what Louis, Niall and Harry all did when Niall dropped "This Town." It's all too much.
Louis was the first of the guys to become a dad when he and Briana Jungwirth welcomed their son Freddie Reign together in 2016. Liam and his girlfriend Cheryl welcomed their little bundle of joy Bear Grey in March of 2017, and we finally just got confirmation that Niall has indeed met Freddie quite a few times.
"I see Louis and [his son] little Freddie all the time. He lives around the corner from me [in Los Angeles]," Niall shared.
Liam also mentioned that he plans to invite all the guys to a baby shower he's having in honor of becoming a dad, so we can only hope that is the moment the fellas will meet Bear.
"I’m going to have some sort of like, it’s like the man’s equivalent of the baby shower – the head wetting thing. I’ve had to put it off of a little bit because of work things, but it’s coming around soon. I’ve put around the invite to the rest of the boys saying to come, but I don’t think Harry can make it. I think Niall’s gonna swing by. We’ve got a little golf course thing going on in the back garden and he can’t resist a bit of golf that boy," Liam [said](I’m going to have some sort of like, it’s like the man’s equivalent of the baby shower – the head wetting thing.”

What a time this hiatus has been so far.
