The Divergent movies have been hitting the big screen for a few years now and there is one more left for fans to see how Tris, Four and the whole gang's story ends. But it looks like things won't be playing out like fans originally expected.
According to Variety, it's most likely that the last film, The Divergent Series: Ascendant will not be shown in theaters. It will instead air on TV to help seg-way into a new television series inspired by the world Tris lives in, with a whole new cast of characters.
Getting weekly doses of this intense, post-apocalyptic world would be really cool and is overall just an interesting concept. As of right now, nothing is set in stone, but negotiations are taking place. This is most likely the result of the latest film, Allegiant not doing as well as the first two movies did in theaters. Most likely, the production company is hoping this would be a better fit.
