Disney and Pixar's new animated film Inside Out hits theaters Friday, June 19th, but until then, we're experiencing two specific emotions in excess: anticipation and excitement.
M recently chatted with Kaitlyn Dias, the actress who voices Riley in the film, all about Inside Out and it's clear she's just as thrilled as we are!
"When my mom told me [I booked the role], I was absolutely ecstatic. I was practically bouncing off the walls just from excitement over it," Kaitlyn EXCLUSIVELY tells M.
“Inside Out is about Riley who suddenly moves from Minnesota to San Francisco and we totally get to see how her emotions react inside her head,” Kaitlyn dishes. "And since most of the story is in her mind, she’s not just one of the characters, she’s also the setting."
Can you imagine watching a movie and hearing your voice speaking back to you, only with a different face?! We bet it's a super odd feeling! While it may have been at first, it seems like Kaitlyn has gotten used to the idea of forever being the voice of a Disney character.
"Watching the movie back is kind of surreal. I’m not used to having my voice associated with a different face so it’s kind of weird for me," Kaitlyn admits. "Weird in a good way. Definitely."
Riley is OBSESSED with playing hockey but Kaitlyn relates to her character for a very different reason.
"Riley is just an absolute goofball. It’s actually part of her personality in one of the personality islands inside her head," she says. "We’re both actually total goofballs. I think the only real difference is she’s really into hockey and I like to pursue other hobbies like knitting or parkour or singing!"
We're pretty sure Riley is going to be one of our new fave Disney characters of all time, but we can't forget all the characters that make her up, too: Her emotions! Kaitlyn dished on her favorite emotion that lives inside Riley's head.
"One of my favorites would have to be Anger because he’s just absolutely hilarious. When things will get frustrating for Riley, he’ll either just absolutely blow up or get really excited about being angry," she dishes. "His facial expressions are priceless!"
