Jordyn Wieber goes for the gold!
Hey M Girls!
Tonight is the kickoff of the 2012 Olympic Games -- watch the Opening Ceremonies tonight at 7:30 p.m. on NBC to get in the spirit! While we love watching all the summer sports, gymnastics is one of our all-timefaves, and M was lucky enough to talk to members of the five-person gymnastics team picked to represent the U.S. next week in London. And first up is Jordyn Wieber! Originally from Dewitt, Michigan, Jordyn Wieber shows us that you can do anything if you put your mind to it!
Check out this recent interview we had with Jordyn!
M: When did you start gymnastics and what has the sport meant to you? Jordyn: I started when I was 4. I've grown up with sports with my whole family. Everybody was in different sports and it kind of made me who I am today. It kind of just shaped my lifestyle.
M: When did the Olympics come into play for you? Jordyn: I've always dreamt about going to the Olympics ever since I was younger but when I was 10, I made my first leap. That's when I decided I wanted to try to go to the Olympics.
M: When you're competing, what beauty regiments do you use to stay fresh? Jordyn: When I'm competing is different than my daily routine. When I'm competing, I use a lot of Covergirl make up. I especially like to make my eyes pop because of the lights on the competition floor and of course, making sure my hair stays with hair spray.
M: Do you spray a lot of it? Jordyn: Yes, definitely, cause if our hair falls out it's totally a deduction.
M: Is it hard to balance school and training? How many times do you train a week? Jordyn: I train 30 hours a week. It's kind of crazy. If I train twice a day, I'll go to school and be all tweaked.
M: Do you ever feel like you miss out on anything because of training? Jordyn: I don't have a normal high school experience but I get to do a lot of things. I got to go to prom. I try to go to as many football games as I can. I try to do as many normal teenage girls things as I can do so I don't feel like I'm missing out too much.
M: You and Justin Bieber have similar last names, when people get your name wrong, do you ever feel like a connection? Jordyn: Sometimes. When I did an interview a couple of weeks ago, we were talking about Justin Bieber and she called him, 'Justin Wieber.' M: LOL!
Here's an M exclusive video from Jordyn, just for M Girls!
