Hey M Girls!
We have a BRAND NEW spin on the daily advice column on mmm-mag.com. Each day at 8:00 PM/EST we'll post a reader question and have our M Girl answer it!! Today, we're talking kids making fun of you for wearing different clothes than they do!!
M Reader JonasGirl411 asked:
Girls at my school always wear the same thing; a tee and jeans. I tend to wear a tee and jeans too -- but not all the time! The problem is, the girls make fun of me because I don't wear the same outfits as they do every single day. I hate that they make fun of my clothes and tell me they're ugly. But when I'm not at school, people compliment me all the time on my outfits! I try to ignore them but it gets annoying when they don't stop. What do I do?
And M Girl's answer is:
"You're doing the right thing by being yourself. You should never change what you wear or who you are because everyone else wants you to. Just because other kids at school think something's cool doesn't mean you have to. So just continue to be yourself! Sometimes kids bully to get a reaction out of you. So if you continue to ignore them, they might stop! If ignoring them doesn't work, then talk to your parents or a teacher about them teasing you. Also, you could always tell them how you feel about it. Pull them to the side and tell them that you're not making fun of them, so why do they want to hurt your feelings? In time, these kids will get tired of making fun of your clothes. And you know what? One day, they'll look back at the outfits they wore and laugh at themselves for wearing something soooo out of style. Don't worry about it. This will pass soon enough!"
