Hey M Girls!
We have a BRAND NEW spin on the daily advice column on mmm-mag.com. Each day at 8:00 PM/EST we'll post a reader question and have our M Girl answer it!! Today, we're talking showing your parents you can handle big responsibilities!!
M Reader camila149 asked:
I really want a cell phone! I'm in the 6th grade and I'm a really good student. But my parents say that I can't get one until I'm in 8th grade. What can I do to convince them otherwise?
And M Girl's answer is:
"Your parents are just afraid that you're growing up too fast, too soon. Having a cell phone is a big responsibility -- it means you're maturing already! Maybe they're waiting to see that you can definitely handle something like that. My advice would be to do some extra things around the house to show that you're responsible. Help you parents even when they don't ask you, get all your work done nice and early, and spend more quality time with them. Even if they hold that promise of waiting until you're in 8th grade to get a cell phone, you may be building a stronger relationship -- which is just as nice a step forward!"
