Hey M Girls!
We have a BRAND NEW spin on the daily advice column on mmm-mag.com. Each day at 8:00 PM/EST we'll post a reader question and have our M Girl answer it!! Today, we're talking getting picked on -- for things you can't help!!
M Reader Phoebs asked:
I have teeth that didn't grow in properly. They grew in above the rest of my teeth. So I get picked on a LOT! Sometimes it makes me cry. Why do people like to pick on other people?
And M Girl's answer is:
"There are tons of possibilities as to why people pick on other people. The most important thing you have to realize is that the teasing isn't even about you -- it has to do with issues your peers are dealing with outside of school. They may not be getting enough attention at home, they could be really insecure about themselves -- there are millions of possibilities! But this rough time will pass soon. I know it's painful for you now, but one day you'll realize that this teasing isn't worth your tears and that there are other things worse in life than your teeth. You should tell these teasers that they're hurting your feelings. If that doesn't work, try to ignore them because bullies like to tease to get a rise our of their victims. You also need to tell a parent or teacher, if nothing else is working or if you're feeling really upset because of it. It's always great to have someone to talk to -- it'll make you feel a lot better, and they can even find ways to help the situation!"
