Hey M Girls!
We have a BRAND NEW spin on the daily advice column on mmm-mag.com. Each day at 8:00 PM/EST we'll post a reader question and have our M Girl answer it!! Today, we're talking how to mend a friendship -- when it's suddenly awkward!
M Reader kmsutton asked:
I'm in the 8th grade and my teachers put me next to this guy in 3 classes. We're always working together in class and I would consider us friends -- but this kid who sits in front of us started making fun of him, saying that he likes me! So now my partner doesn't talk to me. And now when I go to those classes, it's really awkward! And I miss his friendship! What should I do?!
And M Girl's answer is:
"Your friend is most likely not acting the way he normally does because he's super-embarrassed that kid told you he likes you! Even if you did know he likes you to begin with, it definitely makes a difference that he was there when this kid spilled the beans. Now your partner KNOWS that you're aware of his major crush. You know, we always tend the think guys don't care about that kind of stuff but in reality, they're just as embarrassed (if not MORE) than us girls can get. Maybe you should do something to break the ice. Write him a funny note and pass it in class. Have an inside joke between you two? Bring it up and laugh along! I'm sure that if you break the ice, he'll go along with the flow that you guys once had. Give it a shot and try to fix the friendship!"
