Hey M Girls!
We have a BRAND NEW spin on the daily advice column on mmm-mag.com. Each day at 8:00 PM/EST we'll post a reader question and have our M Girl answer it!! Today, we're talking about dealing with parents.
M Reader iGuava wrote: "My mom keeps asking me stupid questions about which guys like me and who I like. She really does not want me to fall in love. She asks me everything there is to know about my love life and doesn't let me keep anything a secret. I understand she has the right to know certain things but her asking me about everything is getting on my nerves."
And M Girl's answer is: "Sometimes parents can be a little overbearing but it's only because they really care about you! Your mom probably wants to make sure that you don't get hurt. She also just wants to know what is going on in your life to make sure everything is okay. A lot of times parents don't pay attention to what is going on in their kid's lives and that's a lot worse. If your mom's questions are starting to get on your nerves, try to talk to her about it. Maybe you can arrange mother-daughter time where the two of you can sit down and talk about things, that way your mom won't have to bug you with questions all the time. It might not seem like it now, but having a good relationship with your mom and talking to her a lot is a great thing! She was your age before and probably has been through some of the same things and can really give you some good advice. Don't push her away. Good luck!"
