Hey M Girls!
We have a BRAND NEW spin on the daily advice column on mmm-mag.com. Each day at 8 PM/EST we'll post a reader question and have our M Girl answer it!! Today, we're talking about parents.
M reader teddymm10 wrote: "My life is centered around my parents. They are very important to me. My dad wants me to become a doctor, actually a neurosurgeon. The thing is, I don't want to be a doctor because I don't think I can make it as a doctor. I would like to be a child psychologist like my 2 aunts. I get why my dad wants me to earn a lot of money as a doctor (because my family is poor) but I don't know how to tell him I want to be something else because I love and respect him soooo much! How do I tell him? I have only 2 years before college."
And M Girl's answer is: "It's extremely important to respect your parents, but you can't let them choose your career choice. You only have one life so you shouldn't spend your time trying to do what someone else wants you to do. Sit your parents down and let them know that you love them but you have to do what is best for you. It might take them awhile, but eventually they'll come around! Good luck!!"
