Any Girl Meets World fan knows the heart and soul of the series was the friendships, especially the relationship between Maya and Riley. They are Thunder and Lightning for life, after all. But there is one other relationship Maya had on the show that really stuck with fans: her bond with Shawn Hunter. He's the guy who was always missing from Maya's life, a father figure who would just be there for her and give her love and support. By the end of the series, he ends up marrying her mom Katy and he even officially adopts Maya. She becomes Maya Hunter.
Cue the tears.
Since GMW officially ended after three seasons, fans never really got a chance to see what Maya's life with her new family was like. Until now. A brief, yet oh so magical, Twitter exchange between Sabrina Carpenter and Rider Strong showed the world what life is like for the Hunter fam.
It was all thanks to Sabs' St. Patrick's Day tweet she shared, which featured a scene from GMW. Rider directed tons of episodes, along with guest-starring on the series too, so he was heavily involved in the show from beginning to end. He told Sabrina this just so happened to be one of his favorite scenes and he called her his TV daughter.
This is just the cutest exchange, and Rider is so proud to publicly acknowledge his on-screen daughter, just like we know Shawn would be proud to show off Maya. So in our minds off in the fictional world these characters exist in, Shawn is treating Maya right, being her dad and we're just crying. A happy ending all around.

Rider and Sabrina's first time meeting and last time working together perfectly reflects their on-screen transition too.
