Public information about the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie Descendants has so far been kept pretty under wraps. We've only seen a tiny bit of footage and even the stars of the movie itself seem to be staying pretty tight-lipped about Disney's most villainous franchise. Dove Cameron, who plays Maleficent's daughter Mal in the film, recently revealed in an interview that she hopes the movie is "as huge as it felt when we were doing it." You know what? Dove might be right!
Disney has no plans to stop at just a Disney Channel Original Movie. Apparently, Descendants is going to be made into a prequel novel for Young Adults and get this: It's already in the works!
The book version, which is entitled The Isle of the Lost, is set to hit bookstores May 5, although a premiere date for the movie has yet to be announced.
A summary of the book states, “Legend has it that long ago, the most infamous villains were imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost, cut off from the rest of the world as punishment for their misdeeds. In this dark and dreary place, the likes of Maleficent, Jafar, Cruella de Vil, and the Evil Queen reside and evil reigns supreme. Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos are their descendants, teenaged sons and daughter of the Isle’s most villainous characters, and they are coming of age on the Isle of the Lost.”
