Niall Horan may be following in the footsteps of his former bandmates Liam Payne and Zayn Malik by pursuing a solo career. That's right, it looks like Niall is a one man show now! And he's doing it without the help of One Direction's X Factor mentor Simon Cowell. News broke that Niall has reportedly signed a deal with Universal, rather than Simon's Syco record label, which 1D was signed to. It has been reported that Simon took this career move as a low blow, as he had been talking to Niall for months about signing with his label. Yikes!
"He made a number of big money offers to try and persuade Niall to sign up but, in the end, Universal came in and put even more money on the table," a source told the Daily Star.
Simon was the person who made 1D a global success, so we totally see how Niall's decision could be a controversial one. Regardless of whether or not these reports about Niall and Simon are true, we can't help but wonder what Niall's solo style will be like and when he'll confirm this major life update himself! Will he go for the classic, catchy One Direction sound or switch it up with some Zayn-like edginess? Niall has been spotted in the recording studio, jamming out with some friends, so perhaps solo tunes really are coming soon. Eek, we can't wait to find out!
