Sounds like Simon Cowell had it right when he hinted that One Direction is taking a break. Despite their massive success with their latest single "Drag Me Down" and their subsequent music video for the song, multiple reports are saying 1D is taking a break to pursue individual solo projects, starting March 2016.
Guess that means Zayn Malik won't be the only former 1D star with a solo record deal.
But before you react like this...
Let us explain: A break isn't necessarily a break up. In fact, a source is revealing that Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan have every intention of getting the band back together after taking some time off.
A source told E! Online, "They are taking a hiatus so they can work on individual projects for a while but they are not splitting up. They will remain together and plan to work together in the future."
Here's what it means: 1D won't head out on tour after their fifth album comes out. For many Directioners, this isn't that surprising, as it's known in the fandom that after The X-Factor, the boys signed a contract with Syco Records that ensured they deliver five studio albums. So while it may be the end of an era, there is definitely hope for the foursome to come together and make music again.
"They are great friends and fully support one another," the source continued. "They are very aware that they are able to work on their own stuff as well as remain together. This is an exciting time for them creatively and as a group."
No matter what, we have a feeling Louis, Harry, Niall, and Liam will be close for the rest of their lives. After all, they experienced something HUGE together. There's no doubt in our minds that they'll continue working and remaining close with each other in the future.
