YAY: 'Riverdale' Has Been Renewed For a Second Season

Giphy

Great news Riverdale fans! It's confirmed: The CW teen drama series, which premiered this past January, has been renewed for another season. The first season consisted of 13 episodes, and now they are coming back for another round. So get ready for more twists and turns with your new fave BFF squad!

In case you are not yet familiar with the television show, let us fill you in on its awesomeness. The story follows the adventures of characters based on the Archie Comics – which is like the coolest concept ever, if you ask us.

So let's start at square one – the characters. The comic-inspired series stars KJ Apa as the lead role of Archie Andrews, along with Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper (his next door neighbor who has a massive crush on him. Actress Camila Mendes plays Veronica Lodge, the new girl in town who already has some major chemistry with Archie.

But it gets better – Disney Channel alum Cole Sprouse plays the role of Jughead Jones, who is Archie's ex-bestie and the narrator of the show. And to top it all off, Ross Butler from K.C. Undercover and Teen Beach 2 stars as the character Reggie Mantle. So basically – it's an insanely star-studded cast, you guys.

Now let us all take a moment to appreciate KJ Apa sending the sweetest message out to his fans. That New Zealand accent though.

OUR HEARTS.

We are so beyond stoked that we are all being blessed with another season of mind-blowing episodes. Although no details about the plot of Season 2 have been released, we can feel it in our bones that it's going to live up to the first one for sure.

You can catch Riverdale every Thursday at 9 PM EST on The CW.
