Have you been sitting on the edge of your seat, anxiously awaiting the sequel to Disney Channel's hit movie Teen Beach Movie? We have, too, which is why we were so unbelievably excited to speak to one of the actors from the film, Ross Butler — who plays Spencer.
You know Ross from TV shows like K.C. Undercover, Happyland, and he's also starring alongside Bella Thorne in the upcoming movie Perfect High.
We have to admit, we were pretty shocked when Ross revealed that one of the hardest things about being on set was dealing with Puerto Rico's unpredictable weather. In fact, the cast even experienced a super scary storm that temporarily forced them to stop filming!
READ OUR INTERVIEW WITH ROSS BELOW:
"Filming in Puerto Rico was a truly awesome experience, but the monsoons that came out of nowhere were something I had never seen before," Ross EXCLUSIVELY dishes to M. "One night, while filming a dance scene on the beach, I witnessed a powerful display of this Caribbean precipitation. It was around midnight, as we were having an overnight shoot, and we were a few hours deep into shooting so we were all sweating and tired. We were all done up in our costumes and make-up and all the props were being set back in their original positions. As I prepped to go through the choreography again, I heard someone say, 'Is it raining?' and I saw everyone's heads look up. Then, seemingly from nowhere, I don't even remember seeing clouds in the sky, the rain started coming down in sheets. It felt like someone was constantly throwing buckets of water on me!"
Oh no! We can't imagine how awful it must have been to have your full hair and make-up undone by the rain!
"Some of us sprinted to the tents set up right off set, some of us went for the umbrellas, and some of us sought 'shelter' under a skimpy palm tree," Ross explains. "That torrential downpour lasted maybe 20 minutes, leaving everything significantly wetter, which isn't great for hair and make-up. But we still had to shoot the dance scene!"
Get this: You might even see evidence of the monsoon in the final cut of the film!
"So if there are shots of us during that scene that we look a little soaked, or the sand on the beach looks a little darker, you'll know why," Ross tells M.
That is so crazy! We can't believe how crazy that must have been to experience.
