Rowan Blanchard is best known for bringing Riley Matthews to life on Girl Meets World, but being the lead actress on such a popular show can definitely come with a ton of pressure. In a new interview, Row opened up about how she initially reacted to being a part of GMW and naturally, she was a bit nervous.
"I would be lying to you if I told you being on Disney wasn’t scary because of the connotation of it: 'Oh she’s on Disney. Is she going to be a Miley, a Demi or a Selena?' None of those people have anything to do with any of us," Rowan explained.
That is a solid point right there and there really isn't any reason to compare different actors to each other, just because they all just so happened to star in a Disney Channel show. Rowan went on to explain how dealing with the constant idea of all eyes on her isn't always ideal. When she decided to share her struggle with depression on Instagram, she didn't just get an onslaught of support, but instead had to deal with tons of negative comments.
The actress explained that she saw some people who wrote, "What does this girl know about depression?" which led her to have a major self-realization so she now tells herself, "'Rowan, you shouldn’t have to defend your depression to get it validated from someone else deep in the Internet.'"
She is totally right and another way she's learned to cope with this extra, not always so nice attention is by creating a private Instagram account.
"It’s the closest thing I think I will feel to going to a regular high school and sharing private things with friends," she said.
And that's how she's keeping herself feel like any other teenage girl, despite living this rather gal life she has!
