Rowan Blancahrd really burst onto the scene when Girl Meets World first aired, and everyone got to meet her character, Riley Matthews. Rowan has been busy in-between starring on her show, becoming an advocate and really being a prominent voice when it comes to issues she cares most about. In a new interview, the starlet spoke about how it's important for her to make sure that she always takes care of herself and her well-being in-between her busy schedule and explained how playing someone else on a TV show can sometimes get complicated.
"When I was younger—I started acting when I was five—I would just go, go, go, go, go, and I loved it so much. I mean when you're that age, it's like you just—I love it. And I still love it today, but there's definitely times where playing a different person is playing a different person," Rowan said. "I think something that I've learned from other actresses is to really take the time to get to know yourself, especially because I think that [your sense of self is] easy to lose when you're playing other people. I guess that's something more in the context of the acting world and surviving in that way, but if there is just something that people taught me in general for self-care, would just be to spend some time alone and to protect yourself. Learning to say no is something that helps in that, and what you're comfortable with and what you're not comfortable with, and finding the line. That's it. Otherwise it's just going to be really hard. And we all have moments like that, but that's how it is."
Rowan is always so wise beyond her 14 years of age! She understands that she's not actually like all the characters she portrays and that's totally fine because she is her own person. She's not Riley, or any other character she plays on TV and in movies. Having this clear understanding and distinction is going to help her go far!
