Girl Meets World is a show that means a lot to different people. It really focuses on the value of friendship and how powerful that bond can be. There was that pesky little love triangle that seemed to be brewing between Riley, Lucas and Maya that was settled earlier in the current season. (FYI: Lucas and Riley decided to start dating, and Maya and Riley made sure their friendship would always take top priority.) Rowan Blanchard recently spoke about her true feelings regarding this triangle in a new interview and like Sabrina Carpenter once said, it was never really about the girls coping with their feelings for Lucas, but it was more about how they handled this sudden shift in their friendship.
"[Riley and Maya,] I think that's the most important relationship on our show. People are always asking, 'What do you ship: Riley and Lucas or Maya and Lucas?' And the entire time, the whole show has been about Riley and Maya's friendship and how powerful it is and how it can withstand anything," Rowan said. "We just used the triangle kind of as a metaphor for how Riley and Maya will never let a boy get between them, which I think is something we can really teach young girls because young girls are taught to cater to boys and to always be obsessed with them. I think our show definitely values sisterhood as its main theme."
Rowan is totally right, the girls' bond is always what takes center stage in every episode and is really the heart and soul of GMW. As for the rumors that the show might be in danger of being canceled, Row admitted she hasn't heard anything word yet as to whether the show will officially come back for more episodes, but she is staying hopeful.
"I know as much as you do. We are hoping for a season four, obviously, because we want to continue our story, and I feel like it's an important story to tell," Rowan said. "But as of right now, we just finished [filming] season three and we're still waiting on the word. But we do have more episodes coming out this year that air into early 2017, so we're covered for a little bit."
Even if season four might not be confirmed just yet, at least there's still plenty of more fun in store for the rest of this season for fans to look forward to!
