Sabrina Carpenter's music video for her current single, "Thumbs," was worth all the hype. The songstress stated to tease fans with random photos and clips just a few days before its release and after watching it several time (it's THAT good), we here at M picked up on a few details that hint at where Sabs got the inspiration for this vid. And it all stems back to where she began.
The first takeaway from "Thumbs" is that it's set legit on the subway. Sabrina brings out all her fierceness of course.
But immediately what came to mind seeing her on the train car is Girl Meets World. As you may recall in the pilot episode of the series, Sabrina's character Maya and her BFF Riley finally ride the subway together alone for the first time and meet Lucas Friar.
This was Sabrina's first introduction to the world as Maya, and immediately worked her way into everyone's hearts.
So when it came today to bring "Thumbs" to life, she chose a location that her fans no doubt would recognize and instantly be hit with a major wave of feels. GMW has since been canceled and this video is serving as a symbolic way of saying goodby to Maya Hart and hello to Sabrina Carpenter all at the same time. Let's take a moment to process.
She wears black hoodie in the video too, which is a staple of another beloved television series: Pretty Little Liars.
The songstress is putting out some major A vibes, since the notorious and often anonymous character wears this signature sweater. Back in the day, Sabrina was often tweeting and posting pics on Instagram about her love for the show, along with her sister, Sarah.
And there was that time she met A herself, Vanessa Ray, who played CeCe Drake.

So maybe the video was just a fun way to pay homage to this series she has grown up watching for all of these years. There are just tons of layers to "Thumbs" and we'll just be here thinking about it all day now.
