The Disney XD series, Kirby Buckets, is changing things up for its third season. Starting on Monday, January 16 at 7:00 ET/PT, the show will shift gears and enter a new chapter, Kirby Buckets: Warped. This version of the show will follow Kirby, his sister and his friends as they use Principal Mitchell's mystical orb and travel to different dimensions. In fact during the entire season, they'll visit 10 alternate universes. How cool is that?!
When M caught up with the main cast of the show, we just had to get them to spill all about their characters and how they truly feel about the journeys they've gone on so far. They have been transforming into the for more than two years now and these actors have learned about themselves through filming the show too. And it's pretty much in agreement the character of Principal Mitchell is the true star, according to the cast! Check out our exclusive Q & A below.
M: How has your character evolved since the first season?
Jacob Bertrand ("Kirby"): My character has evolved a lot since season one. He gains more confidence each season and learns really valuable lessons, through his adventures and with his friends.
Tiffany Espensen ("Belinda"): My character, Belinda, is very independent. I'm excited for this season because there's a whole arc for her understanding how strong she truly is. I even get a fun fight seen (spoiler alert) and all the characters get to work together solving dimension problems and battling time Lords!
Cade Sutton ("Eli"): Eli has really matured; he’s not quite as naïve, but still ever loyal to his friends.
Olivia Stuck ("Dawn"): Dawn has changed so much. And I, as a normal person have changed a whole bunch. So we've grown together and it was fun. She's trying to be more kind and that shows a lot. She definitely still gets angry with Kirby quite a bit, but it's innocent and she loves him so much.
MeKai Curtis** ("Fish"):** Fish has definitely evolved. He still is that girl crazy, super loyal, fashion forward "King" from before but as the series goes on he seems to be turning into a more mature person. He seems to make decisions using a different set of rules then before. It's been a real joy to bring this guy to life.
M: What have you learned about yourself through playing your character?
JB: From Kirby, I have learned how to have more faith in my friends. Having a strong friend group that you can lean on and depend on is very important.
TE: Belinda has taught me to take on more adventure! At first she's timid to try something new, but in the end she's all in and ends up loving it!
CS: I've learned a lot about teamwork & loyalty.
OS: I've learned a lot of patience. Dawn is like a time bomb sometimes and she gets in her head all the time which is something I can relate to. So, I've learned from her and from my own experiences to breathe and not worry so much.
MC: I've learned the meaning of true friendships through playing Fish. Although they are just characters, the loyalty among Kirby, Fish, and Eli is unparalleled. I think in real life if you don't have people around you who are willing to do things for you like these three guys are for each other... you're missing out tremendously. I've also learned that I am pretty great under pressure! From learning lines, dealing with real life things like school deadlines and just life in general... I can balance a lot of things and come out on top! It has been extremely humbling and I am grateful for it.
M: If you could play any other character on the show, who would it be and why?
JB: There are two characters I'd love to play. The first is Principal Mitchell performed by Mr. Stephen Kearin – his role is so much fun and he takes it to cool places. The other would be Big Ricky played by my man Jack Foley. Big Ricky is probably my favorite character on the show because he literally controls the mass opinion.
TE: I don't think I could answer that, I love playing Belinda! If I had to pick, probably Dawn because she's so opposite of Belinda. That would be something fun to try! Our whole cast is a family and we've all worked so hard to make season 3 spectacular! Each episode is mind-blowing, wacky, and entertaining. We've made this season like a movie with amazing costumes, creative story lines, and there are high stakes for every character throughout the whole show. I'm so thrilled for people to watch our show's brand new concept!
CS: Principal Mitchell, because it would be so much fun getting to play all the different characters he got to play, plus his character is one cool dude.
OS: I would play Principal Mitchell because every girl dreams of having those luscious locks. Also, his jokes are just the best ever. I wouldn't do nearly as well as Stephen Kearin does, because he's incredible, but I would absolutely try.
MC: I would love to play Principal Mitchell, who is portrayed by the one and only Stephen Kearin. know I would do nowhere near the justice the character deserves! Stephen puts his everything into that character and is awesome at what he does, He gets to show so many different sides and I'd love to get a chance to stretch like he does in his role. I think it would be wonderful to see what I would be able to pull out of myself in the different scenarios.
