If you sometimes struggle with self-confidence (and most people do, no matter what age they are), Vanessa Hudgens is hoping to inspire you with her latest admission.
The actress is most famous for starring in all three of Disney Channel's High School Musical movies and tons of her former co-stars have reached out to her since she landed Gigi. (Side note: Ashley Tisdale is talking about a possible HSM reunion.)
But despite accomplishing an incredible amount, she admits the thought of auditioning for Broadway was exceptionally nerve-wracking!
In a new interview, Vanessa addresses just how nervous she was before she booked the lead role in Gigi on Broadway.
“In a building that’s the epicenter of Broadway auditions, all the possibles were singing their hearts out. Trying so hard. I felt out of place. I was nervous. Terrified," Vanessa admitted. “I started reading the lines, and it somehow felt right. I did the scene I’d prepared. They asked me to do another, which I hadn’t prepared.”
Yikes! That does sound scary, especially if she wasn't 100% prepared for what they asked her to do. But obviously, there's more to the story because V-Ness pulled through and got the part!
“Not happy, I went into another room and worked on it. They gave me 10 minutes. Recording my voice on my phone, I did my best. Memorized as much as I could. They gave me no notes and a few hours later they called me,” she said.
Wow, that really sounds like a stressful situation, but we have to admit, we're not surprised V came out successful on the other side. She's a total pro, and it just goes to show even if you're having a self-doubting moment, you can do anything you put your mind to! Way to be an amazing role model, Vanessa!
