Zayn Malik has always been rather quiet and a bit more shy when it comes to his private life. When he was a member of One Direction, he often let his bandmates do most of the talking but now that he's on his own, he's been opening up more and more. In a recent interview, he shared more tidbits into his life that the public doesn't get to see on a daily basis, revealing that he actually is a big kid at heart, not as serious and brooding all the time like everyone expects.
Zayn spoke about how he actually has an entertainment room in his home in London that is completely Priates of the Caribbean-themed, which he designed and built himself.
"I love the [movie's] aesthetic and how well it's done. I feel like it's really authentic to pirate times," Zayn said with a laugh. "Like I know anything about 'pirate times.' I guess I just love it. I'm a big kid."
Z has made his love for everything superheros known in the past, but who would've though he was into pirates too? It's kind of amazing how he's able to laugh at himself in a way too, showing that he doesn't take himself too seriously. He went on to explain that he's even attempting to learn how to ride horses and is taking lesson, since this is something his girlfriend Gigi Hadid is a pro at.
"Because my girlfriend rides a little bit. Actually, that's an understatement. She rides very well, and she has since she was a kid," Zayn explained. "She wants me to do it with her, and I'm not good. But I'm learning, and it's fun. My first lesson was on a really old horse that didn't move very much, so it wasn't that scary. She was on the other horse, the one that moved a lot more. She was jumping over hurdles and I just sat there like, 'Ok, this is freaky.'"
Can you just imagine Zayn taking horse-riding lessons? It's sweet that he's doing something that means so much to Gigi as a way for the pair to get closer and just hang out together. Zayn really is a romantic and not just when it comes to his girlfriend, but with his fans too.
The singer went on to explain how the positive response to his solo music from the Zquad, as his fans are called, has been "overwhelming," and he simply wouldn't be where he is now without their love and support, especially since he is no longer in a band.
"There've been a few moments where I've been really taken aback, I feel like everybody looks for some sort of approval from some form in their life, and my fans are my approval. It's a sense of achievement that you can't really explain. "To still be valuable by yourself is an important thing," he said.
That Zayn is just always full of surprises!
