It's the moment the world — and by world, we mean the One Direction + Zayn Malik fandom — has been waiting for: Zayn took the stage and performed for the first time as a solo artist. He made his debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and as if seeing him up there for the first time by himself wasn't enough to handle, Zayn decided to sing a brand new song called "It's You." And yes, that's the tune he said was inspired by his relationship and break-up with Perrie Edwards. SO MANY FEELINGS RN.
Throughout the song, Zayn gives us those angelic high notes of his as he expresses how the end of his engagement to the Little Mix singer affected him, and ultimately what he learned from it. The stage was dark, with dim lights hitting Zayn's face from time to time, perhaps to highlight the lyrics of the song. Zayn really wanted everyone to get to hear him by himself, since the world hasn't seen him fly solo since he auditioned for X Factor. Just let that sink in.
To slay our souls even more, he unveiled the cover art of his upcoming album, Mind of MIne, and it features a classic throwback photo of the singer, with his tattoos visible on his hands and arms.
If there's one thing Zayn always does, it's that he keeps us guessing!
