It's safe to say there are tons of Descendants fans who are anxiously waiting for the sequel film, Descendants 2 to Disney Channel's epic musical to be released and so far, there aren't too many details about the movie out yet, like when exactly it's hitting television screens. What we do know so far is that the main core villain kids get some makeovers and are all sporting new looks, there are some new rotten to the core characters from the Isle of the Lost who are going to be wreaking some havoc in Auradon, and a whole of drama in store for Mal, Evie, Carlos, Jay, and Prince — oops now King— Ben.
When the new official poster for the DCOM was released, everyone was closely examining it to see what clues if gives away — if any — of what's to come, and the big takeaway seems to be that the movie is officially coming out in the summer of 2017.
So we know it's coming in the summer, but that's about it. Until Dylan Playfair, who plays Gil, took to Instagram and accidentally spilled the beans. The actor apparently uploaded a now deleted post that said the movie is coming out on June 23, 2017. Our fave and every-so-reliable Descendants Twitter account shared the update.
Descendants 2 star Dylan Playfair had a slip up on Instagram and announced that D2 will air in June. June 23rd is it's rumored date. 🍎❤️— Descendants 2 (@Descendants2015) January 20, 2017
DCOMs typically premiere on a Friday and June 23 is a Friday in the beginning of summer, so there's a chance this might just actually be the real date the movie comes out. The first movie came out on July 31 though, nearly a month after this rumored air date, so time will tell if this ends up being when the movie actually comes out. Let's hope yes, since that's only five months away, but who's counting?!
