Cameron Dallas had a big night at the 2016 Teen Choice Awards, where he won the coveted surfboard for Social Media King. During Cam's acceptance speech, he was asked backstage to participate in a little game of "Would You Rather?" and he was asked if he would rather use singer Justin Timberlake's toothbrush or actress Jessica Alba's.
"I would honestly choose Justin Timberlake's just because I don't know where Jessica's been," he said.
Here is the moment it all went down:
But it looks like his response hasn't really gone over too smoothly with fans on Twitter, who were quick to point out that the Internet star's word choice wasn't really the wisest.
I'm sorry but I'm still pressed over what Cameron Dallas said about Jessica Alba. That was disgusting and uncalled for. Ugly.— oakland (@BeysHoldUp) August 1, 2016
Yikes, that definitely wasn't Cam's most eloquent moment, since people are taking it that he implied something negative about Jessica. She is a successful TV and movie actress, businesswoman, wife and mom and she gave a moving speech at the TCAs about how gun violence needs to be stopped, with young people affected by these senseless tragedies up on stage with her. Cam has since taken to Twitter to clarify and say he was only joking around, and is a huge fan of Jessica's.
Yo it was literally a joke, I love @jessicaalba and would share a toothbrush with her till I die lol— Cameron Dallas (@camerondallas) August 1, 2016
Really thankful for the message @jessicaalba spoke tonight, that's what we should focus on— Cameron Dallas (@camerondallas) August 1, 2016
Although Cameron was only making a joke, this simply wasn't funny and throwing shade and shame, even when it's unintentional, is still hurtful. Hopefully he'll just think about how his jokes might come across next time!
