If you're a fan of Riverdale, then you know Season 1 has been filled with tons of drama, like you know solving a crime, and unexpected romances and friendships blossoming. But there's one relationship in particular that hasn't gotten nearly enough love: the close friendship between Archie and Jughead. There was one particular scene where Archie admitted he thinks of Juggy as his brother that brought on all the feels but given the fact that leading stars KJ Apa and Cole Sprouse are besties IRL, fans are super eager to see their on screen relationship play out even more. And it looks like that's exactly what's happening in Season 2 – and the boys seem to be oh so pumped about it.
"We didn't really get to see too much Archie and Jughead this season," Cole said in a recent interview. "I'd like to see a little but more of that because that's the classic narrative from the comics."
KJ added that "in order to portray these characters as best mates, you need to see them together being best mates. You didn't get to really to see that in season one."
As for what they like best about their characters, Cole points out the differences between the way Archie and Jughead deal with their emotions.
"What I like about Archie's character is that he internalizes a lot of his emotions in a very classic masculine way, which is aggression," he said. "There's that scene with him hitting the punching bag after episode five, which is sort of a classic way that men are taught to deal with an emotional complex. Just, 'Go work it out!' He goes for runs. That's one of his character traits. I think that's cool and we're going to end up seeing a lot of that prospectively in season two."
And what about Jughead, you ask?
"I'm just ready to get into lots of fights," Cole says about his character.
Oh Cole, forever bringing the jokes that one.
