It's safe to say The Hunger Games movies were yet another beloved book series that was transformed into epic movies that took the world by storm and made movie stars out of its main cast. It joins the ranks of Harry Potter and The Twilight Saga in terms of how impactful these films were for the fans of the series. Although this era has ended, one of the main stars just admitted he wouldn't say no if another movie happened. CAN YOU EVEN TAKE IT?
In a new interview, Josh Hutcherson — who played the ever-so-sweet boy with the bread Peeta Mellark — explained that he really enjoyed playing Peeta and if the story was solid and there was a natural reason why this movie was being made and not just for a profit, he wouldn't be opposed.
"I loved the experience, I loved playing the character. I love the crew and our cast was great, the best," Josh said to E! Online. "If it felt natural and right and not like a milking-the-cow money grab then I would for sure be down. I have no qualms at all about that — as long as they don't create some story so they can make some more money."
So Josh is down to bring Peeta to life once again, as long as it makes sense. Since the four films did gross more than two billion dollars worldwide, it's easy to see why anyone would love to keep the franchise going, but Josh made it clear he would want it to be the perfect scenario. That's good to know!
It's unclear whether any of his co-stars, including Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth feel the same way, but it would be interesting to see where all of their characters have ended up. As you may recall at the end of the series, there is a flash-forward that shows how Peeta and Jennifer's character Katniss have since gotten married and had two adorable children together, moving on passed the dark days of the Hunger Games and President Snow's terrifying reign in The Capitol.
Maybe this next movie could focus on their kids and how they end up following in their parents' footsteps, rising to the occasion when it comes time to step up and, you know, save the world they know from being taken over and destroyed by an oppressive force. Hey, it could happen again and if there's anyone who can save the day, it's Katniss and Peeta's kids. Josh also isn't the only star to express an interest in possibly one day returning to a role he's most known for, sort of. Kristen Stewart, who famously played Bella Swan in all five of the Twilight movies, said that although she's happy with all the films she and the cast made, she would love to read another book if author Stephenie Meyer would ever want to write one. And since all of these movies were based off of novels, perhaps that would inspire another new movie, for both THG and Twilight. We're here for it.
