Best news ever! Nickelodeon recently announced that Kel Mitchell is returning to the network for the new TV series Game Shakers.
Kel rose to stardom starring alongside Kenan Thompson in the 90s Nick comedy Kenan & Kel, so he is no stranger to comedy or Nick's audiences. His show is created by Dan Schneider, the mastermind behind shows like iCarly, Victorious, and Sam & Cat.
The show focuses on a pair of seventh grade girls Babe and Kenzie (played by Cree Cicchino and Madisyn Shipman respectively) who, after creating a super popular mobile game (called Sky Whale), start a company called Game Shakers. Thomas Kuc stars as their friend and business partner Hudson.
So where does Kel come in? He plays a successful rapper named Double G, who first plays the role of the villain, but eventually comes around to join the girls in promoting their app business.
“I get to play a hip-hop mogul who is the comedic version of artists like Kanye, Diddy, Eminem and 50 Cent,” Kel told Entertainment Weekly. “Double G is a rapper/singer/dancer/entrepreneur/[and] investor, which gives us great story lines on the show. I love playing such a wild character, because you will see some great physical comedy, but he also has heart; he is a single dad that loves his son, Triple G, played by the very talented Benjamin ‘Lil P-Nut’ Flores, Jr. There are so many layers to this character that it is one of those dream-come-true roles.”
As if we weren't pumped already, now we find out Benjamin Flores, Jr. is involved in the project, too! The Haunted Hathaways star expressed his excitement about working on the new show in a recent Instagram post:
