Mind-Blown: KJ Apa Reveals the First Season of 'Riverdale' Almost Ended a Different Way and Now We're Left Simply Shook

Riverdale literally ended it's first season with a heart-stopping bang that has left fans with tons of questions leading into season two. In the final episode of the season, Archie's dad Fred was shot by an armed robber as the father/son duo were about to enjoy breakfast together. The relationship between Archie and Fred is one of the purest and provides plenty of heartwarming moments on the show that has some rather dark twist and turns so naturally, everyone freaked out over the chance that Archie's dad might not make it out alive.

His fate is still unclear but Archie himself KJ Apa revealed when he was at MCM Comic Con London that at first, the episode wasn't supposed to go down the way it, specifically that final scene.

"We had a completely different ending while we were shooting. Only me and Luke [Perry] got sent the ending the night before we shot that scene," KJ said. "We kinda just got it done. No one else actually knew about it except for us at that time."

OK, so we already knew that the ending was super top secret, with Cole Sprouse confirming that those who weren't in the scene had no idea how it was going to end and since the scene was only between Archie and Fred, it seems like KJ and Luke were the main stars who were aware of what was going to happen. But what about this alternate ending scene? KJ wouldn't give it away since he wasn't even sure he was technically allowed to but he did admit that it had "something to do with the Blossoms." And we all know that Blossom family is filled with so much drama! No matter what exactly happens to Fred as a result of the shooting, Archie is now forever changes and KJ is ready to take on this new, vengeful version of the beloved redhead who can play a mean guitar

"I'm really excited to explore a different side of Archie that we haven't really seen yet, a darker side after Fred gets shot. It kinda shakes things up for him for sure. Things start to get pretty gnarly," he said.

And that's not the only new update about the upcoming season. Deadline confirmed that Skeet Ulrich, who plays Jughead's dad FP Jones, will be promoted to a series regular instead of being a reoccurring character like he was in the first season. So that basically means for FP scenes will be coming your way.

"We so loved having Skeet on Riverdale last year, that we couldn’t imagine Riverdale without him," executive producer Sarah Schecter said. "He’s a stellar actor and we feel we have just scratched the surface of who FP is. We are excited to have Skeet continue on this journey and we can’t wait for the audience to see what he is up to this year."

Now if you recall, FP was in jail for the part he played in helping Clifford Blossom cover up Jason's death. FP did was Clifford told him since Mr, Blossom threatened to kill Jughead and since the man killed his own son, FP didn't want to take any chances. But perhaps he won't be in jail for long now that he's going to be on the show more and that means Juggy can return home to Rvierdale, since he's currently staying with a foster family on the other side of town and is now going to a different high school. SO MUCH IS HAPPENING and we have to wait until fall for new episodes. Good thing season one is on Netflix to help with those RD withdrawals.
