For Real Though: The 'Riverdale' Cast Still Doesn't Know What to Make of That Game-Changing Season Finale Either, So You're Not Alone

Riverdale fans are still freaking out over that season finale episode that of course, featured tons of twist and turns. And while there was one pure moment of happiness for Archie, Betty, Jughead and Veronica, the final scene was gut-wrenching, with Archie's dad Fred getting shot during a robbery at their favorite diner Pop's. Fred Andrews was a source of light in this dark town, and any scene he had with Archie revolved around the fact that he's a devoted dad, willing to do whatever he can to protect his son.

With the second season about to begin filming in June, and airing in the fall, everyone just needs to know what is Fred's fate. Will he survive this vicious attack? What does it mean for Archie? At The CW's Upfronts, E! News caught up with some of the show's stars to see if they could provide any solace as to what Fred's fate is.

"We got the script the night before we started shooting and everyone was really surprised," KJ Apa said. "Fred living or dying is still unclear and whether or not he does live or die, Archie's life is about to change, for sure. There's going to be some great storylines for season two, we've hear a little bit about what's going to be going on and I'm really, really excited."

OK, so Archie himself doesn't any major details yet, so of course, Cole Sprouse was asked for some insight.

"I don't really have any comfort to give [fans] about Fred truthfully, unfortunately. I'm just as in the dark as they are," he said. "I wish I could sit here and be like, 'He'll be OK!' But I don't know. I haven't been told."

He couldn't provide anything either, but it's nice to know he wants to let the fans in if he could.

But there is one cast member who does have the inside scoop: Cheryl Blossom herself, Madelaine Petsch.

"I know a lot more than I'm going to let on. I do [know who shot Fred]. We'll see," she teased.

Umm, can season two hurry up already? At least the first season is now on Netflix, so let the binging commence.
