Ever since it was announced that Disney Channel decided to cancel Girl Meets World, once the series finale aired, fans were wondering when they would see their faves Rowan Blanchard, Sabrina Carpenter, Peyton Meyer and Corey Fogelmanis on-screen again. The cast has all been plenty busy since the show ended with their new project, but it was Rowan who made her official television debut in a new role first. The actress guest-starred on the latest episode of the ABC sitcom, The Goldbergs, and if you loved seeing Row bring Riley to life, then you're going to weep over how perfect she is playing this new character. (Seriously, this role is just too good!)
SPOILER ALERT if you haven't seen The Goldbergs episode, *A Night to Remember* In the episode, we meet Rowan's character Jackie, a smart, confident girl who meets Adam, one of the main characters, in the hallway when they're both hanging up posters. Jackie is starting a sci-fi/fantasy magazine and once she and dam start talking, they realize they have so much in common. And of course Adam falls for Jackie right away.
He's never met anyone like Jackie. She's literally his dream girl and she unexpectedly ends up asking him to prom. But things go awry when Jackie finds out that Adam lied about being a fan of Lord of the Rings, a topic she wanted to write about in the first issue of the magazine they're working on. Jackie isn't happy Adam pretended to not only be a fan of the books, but have extensive knowledge about the stories too, so she ends up calling off going to the prom with him.
Naturally Adam is upset and tries to win Jackie back, but not before his mom Beverly gets involved. Like any classic Goldbergs episode, Adam's mom inserts herself into his problems and she ends up going to Jackie's house to show Jackie exactly why she and Adam are meant to be. That's when she busts out a photo album filled with old pictures of Adam in tons of Halloween costumes, and Jackie's mom joins in showing off pictures of Jackie too.
Adam shows up to try and woo Jackie again, but is mortified when he finds out his mom beat him to Jackie's house. Jackie reveals though that his mom actually helped her realize she judged Adam too harshly and she's not only going to give him another chance, but they end up going to prom together.
HOW ADORABLE IS THEIR PROM PIC THOUGH?!
Of course as any GMW fan knows, there was an episode in season two, Girl Meets Semi-Formal, when Riley went to a school dance and had to decide between two dates, Lucas her longtime crush and Charlie, a new boy in her life who really likes her.
Can we talk about how Riley and Jackie's dresses are even a bit similar in color?
OK, so maybe we just don't want to let go of seeing Rowan as Riley just yet. Rowan's appearance on The Goldbergs though is making fans wonder if she'll be appearing on more than one episode, since at the end, Adam and Jackie ended up having a great time at prom and they clearly love hanging out together. She also took to Twitter to remind her fans to tune in and in the tweet, she casually wrote "my first episode."
So perhaps Jackie will be hanging around after all?! It would be great to see Rowan on the show again since you know, everyone is missing her gracing television screens every week. But there is another GMW alum who has snagged a recurring role on a show. Ben Savage, who played Cory Matthews, has just been cast on Billy Ray Cyrus hit CMT comedy series, Still the King as Gene, according to Deadline. Looks like these actors aren't slowing down in the slightest!
