With the release date of Selena Gomez's new album Revival quickly approaching, the "Same Old Love" singer has been more vocal ever. She has been opening up about her past relationship (with Justin Bieber), how she worked through writer's block, and more. But perhaps the most shocking admission of all is Sel's most recent one. In a brand new interview, the Wizards of Waverly Place actor reveals that she wasn't happy with her life and career during her Disney Channel days.
“It’s all part of my story. I’m growing and changing. I was in a relationship, and I was being managed by my parents, and I was still under Hollywood and Disney, and I was being held to this expectation of being the good girl,” Selena admitted.
It's always hard when you feel like there's an expectation on you. Especially if it's not one that accurately represents who you are or want to be. It sounds like Selena felt like the world didn't know the real her when she was on Disney!
“I knew deep down that this wasn’t what I wanted to do — being exhausted of forcing something that wasn’t right, even in my personal life. I had to have moments where I was crying and I was like, ‘Why am I not in love with what I do?’”
“I was forced to get very uncomfortable for a while in order to make the decisions I made,” she continued.
Everything makes sense now, especially Selena's new album title. It absolutely is her revival. Now that she's done with Disney, Hollywood Records, and her ex-boyfriend, the new Selena can emerge!
