Every One Direction fans knows that without Simon Cowell, the band wouldn't have become the huge global phenomenon it did. He was one of the driving forces who put together Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik on X Factor and since the boys were signed to his label, he really worked closely with them to catapult them into super-stardom.
But since Zayn left completely and the group is on an indefinite hiatus, the remaining members have all gone off to do their own things, like make movies and TV shows, and sign solo recording deals. So naturally Simon has some feelings about all this and well, he's a bit bummed about the lack of loyalty he's witnessed.
"Look, I'm not going to lie when I hear they're doing something and they haven't approached me. You think, 'Well I would have liked you to,' but it's their choice. I'm not bitter – much," he said with a laugh reporters at the America's Got Talent finale live show red carpet. "I hear so many things now, which they're doing, which I'm not involved with. It's a bit like I'm getting the hint you don't want me to come to the party. Sorry for making you famous."
Of course Simon is joking around about the whole making them famous part, but it's clear he is a little hurt over the fact that they guys haven't really included him in their plans. It's more of a common courtesy and just for the sake of his friendship and business relationship Simon has with the boys that he would've like for them to tell him directly of their new chapters. But there is one thing he's holding out hope for and that's a time when the band decides to give it another go and get back together.
"I hope there will be a reunion, yeah. You never know," he added.
So Simon's still a Directioner at heart just like the rest of us. We feel you.
