Our hearts go out to Simone Biles, as she has had to say goodbye to her beloved pet dog, Maggie. The Olympic gold-medalist gymnast took to Instagram and Twitter to share a series of photos of her and her Maggie over the years as she shared the news that her pooch has passed away. She wrote a heartfelt message to Maggie, telling the story of how the dog was a present she literally had to beg her parents for.
"A dog is a part of your life & you are everything to a dog's life, remember that," Simone wrote. "You were my first dog, the dog I begged & begged my parents to get. So you were my present when I made level 9 Westerns, I got to name you (Maggie). We grew up together. The craziest most unbothered dog!! You were amazing❤️ Have fun in Doggie Heaven Maggie Maggie🐶💔🐾☁️ I love you!"
Losing a pet is never easy, especially if you've grown up with this furry little one as a part of your family, like Simone. It's clear they had such a close bond too, since the athlete mentioned how she wanted a dog so badly, as any kid does. Simone is currently gearing up to compete on the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars, which she's been hard at work training and rehearsing for. At least she has something positive and fun to keep her busy while she copes with this loss. Back in 2015, she even posted a pic on Twitter of Maggie, along with some of her other dogs in honor of National Dog Day.
It's comforting to know she has all of these wonderful memories to look back on of her time with Maggie.
