Looks like Zayn Malik isn't ready to fully say goodbye to his boy band past like everyone thought. It was just announced that the singer is developing a scripted television series on NBC along with legendary producer Dick Wolf — the guy who created all of the Law & Order shows — called Boys. And you guessed it, the show will be about how the rise of a super famous and successful boy band, and what it's like dealing with all the pressures that comes along with it. Sounds a lot like Zayn's One Direction roots, right?!
"Dick Wolf is a legend and the opportunity to work with him and NBC to create a compelling drama series is awesome," Zayn said in a statement.
The show is also going to feature original music, so it's going to be interesting to see if Z will be involved this aspect too, along with the casting.
"Zayn certainly brings an authentic point of view to this world where kids are catapulted into fame at a dizzying speed. On top of our excitement around the creative ideas being discussed, we have a lot of respect for the musical and digital ambitions behind the project," Jennifer Salke, president of NBC Entertainment said.
This is going to be so interesting to see! Will Zayn share some of his own personal tidbits with the writers so they can incorporate them into storylines? Will the actors who are cast look like the 1D guys?
The possibilities are endless!
